Refund and Cancellation Policy

What this policy covers
This page explains, in one place:
- Your right to cancel a paid subscription, and when a subscription refund applies
- How refunds work for event tickets bought on UK Socials
- What happens when an event is cancelled
- How to claim, and how long refunds take
It restates the refund and cancellation terms of our Terms of Service (sections 5, 6 and 7) so you can read them on their own. The two documents say the same thing; if you ever spot a difference, tell us at info@uksocials.club and the reading more generous to you applies.
This policy sits alongside your statutory rights under UK consumer law, never instead of them. Anything here that would reduce those rights does not apply.
Part A: Subscriptions
A1. Every paid tier starts with a free month
All paid UK Socials tiers (Standard £3, Premium £5, Organiser £35, Venue £35, per month) begin with one month free. You give your card details at signup, nothing is charged during the free month, and the first payment is taken only when the free month ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing at all.
A2. Your 14-day cooling-off right
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from the day you take out a subscription in which you can cancel for any reason, or no reason.
By ticking the agreement box at checkout you expressly ask us to start providing the paid service immediately rather than after the 14 days (regulation 36(1)). Because of the free first month, cancelling in the cooling-off window costs you nothing: no payment has been taken inside it, so there is nothing to refund and nothing to charge.
If we ever offer a tier that charges from day one, cancelling within the 14 days will refund what you paid minus a proportionate charge for the days of service you used, and the checkout will say so before you pay.
A3. Cancelling after the cooling-off window
You can cancel at any time, forever, without giving a reason:
- Cancelling stops all future payments.
- Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for (or to the end of the free month), then your account drops to the Free tier.
- No refund is given for the remainder of a month already paid for.
A4. How to cancel
- In your account: Account, then Manage Subscription, then Cancel Membership. This is the quickest route.
- By email: info@uksocials.club
- By post: CMP Technologies Ltd, Registered office address: being procured (contact info@uksocials.club for postal correspondence)
- By the model form at Part E below (optional).
Any clear statement that you want to cancel is enough. You never need a reason and we never make cancelling harder than signing up was.
A5. Auto-renewal and failed payments
Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Your next billing date is shown in your account. If a renewal payment fails we retry it; if it cannot be collected your account drops to the Free tier and we tell you by internal message. Price changes are notified at least 30 days ahead and you can cancel before any new price applies to you.
A6. When we refuse a subscription refund
We never refuse to let you cancel. We refuse a refund only where:
- the 14-day cooling-off window has passed (you keep the service to the end of the paid period instead), or
- the cooling-off right has been abused (for example repeated signups under different accounts to harvest free periods), or
- the account was terminated for a serious breach of the Terms of Service, in which case the unused portion of the current month is forfeit.
A7. Cancelling is not deleting
Cancelling a subscription keeps your account open on the Free tier, with your profile, photos and messages intact. Deleting your account entirely is done from your account settings and is covered by Terms of Service §3.3 and Privacy Policy §7.
Part B: Event tickets
B1. Who your contract is with, and where the money moves
Your contract for the event itself is with its organiser or venue: they are responsible for the event happening as described. The ticket money, though, moves through UK Socials: we take the payment, we pass it on with our commission deducted, and refunds are requested, decided and paid back through the platform. You never need to arrange a refund privately with an organiser, and no one should ever ask you to.
B2. Every event states its own cancellation terms
Each event page states the cancellation terms its organiser chose from a fixed list:
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the event starts
- Free cancellation up to 7 days before the event starts
- No refunds once booked
The terms shown when you bought are the terms your ticket was sold under.
B3. Requesting a refund
Use the Request a refund control on the event page (shown on any paid ticket you hold). Your request goes to the organiser to approve or decline, and an approved refund is paid automatically to the card you paid with.
- Inside the stated window, the refund is yours. An organiser who declines an in-window request is breaking the term the ticket was sold under: report it to info@uksocials.club and we will put it right.
- Outside the window, or on a “no refunds” event, the refund is the organiser’s decision.
- An approved refund is 100% of what you paid. The costs of processing a refund are shared between us and the organiser and never reduce what you get back.
B4. Cancelled events
If an event is cancelled, by the organiser, the venue or us, every ticket holder is refunded in full, through the platform, automatically. This is your statutory right and we operate it as the default, not as a favour.
B5. Events that happen but are not what was sold
If an event is materially different from its listing (wrong venue, wrong date, the headline element missing), report it to us within 14 days at info@uksocials.club. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are against the organiser, and we help enforce them, including processing a refund where that is the right outcome. Disappointment alone (“not my kind of crowd”) is not a refund ground.
B6. No 14-day cooling-off on tickets
The 14-day cooling-off right does not apply to event tickets, because the law exempts leisure activities on a specific date (regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). Your ticket protections are B2 to B5.
B7. Curated events
If UK Socials revokes your place at an event we curated after you paid, you are refunded in full and the cost of that refund is entirely ours.
Part C: The Free tier
The Free tier costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund. You can stop using a free account, or delete it, at any time without charge.
Part D: How refunds are paid, and how long they take
- Refunds go back to the payment method you paid with. We do not pay refunds in cash, credit, or to a different card.
- We respond to refund queries within 3 working days and process valid refunds within 5 working days.
- Once processed, your bank typically shows the money within 1 to 3 working days, occasionally up to 10.
If you think a refund has been handled unfairly, our Complaints Procedure explains the next steps, and you can always contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
Part E: Model cancellation form (optional)
You do not have to use this form, but you can.
