Guide for Members

Welcome

UKSocials is not another social media site. We exist for one reason: to help you meet real people in real life. No endless scrolling, no attention farming - just genuine connections that happen face to face.

Your Profile

Your profile shows your public fields (hobbies, interests) and public photos. What's private: your activity, your messages, who you've shown interest in. We restrict visibility on purpose - it encourages meeting up rather than stalking profiles online.

The Interest System

  • See someone interesting? Hit the "show interest" button on their profile
  • It's completely silent - they won't know unless they're interested in you too
  • If it's mutual, you both see the match on your Interests page (the Matched tab) and you can message each other

Is this a "Like"? No - showing interest is not admiring or romantic - it means "This person seems interesting and I think we'd get along." Males should feel comfortable showing interest in other males who share their hobbies - we're pushing for more bros-meeting-new-bros just as much as anything else.

The Invite System

  • Found an event or venue you want to share? Send an invite to someone
  • Choose an event from the listings, or suggest a venue
  • Payment options: No thanks / Buy a ticket / Cover the cost / Offer a budget
  • The other person can accept or decline - no pressure
  • All invites are private between sender and receiver
  • It's the easiest way to break the ice.
  • We believe that there's absolutely no harm in inviting someone to something, because that person can always politely decline.
  • The issues arise if you keep sending invites to people who aren't accepting them, so be aware that we keep an eye out for that, and will diplomatically step in if it becomes a bit much.

The Wish List

  • Mark events, organisers, and venues you're interested in
  • Your Wish List is visible on your profile - it helps others see what you're into. Show people what and where to send you invites for.
  • It also helps the admin team suggest great meetups for you
  • Think of it as "things I'd love to do" - not a commitment

Events

  • Browse events on the Events page - search by type, location, date, genre, tags
  • "Solo-friendly" = designed for people coming alone (no awkwardness)
  • "First-timers welcome" = great for your first event on the platform
  • Buy tickets directly through UK Socials, or RSVP for free events

Venues

Browse the venue directory to find great places to socialise. Check accessibility info, style tags, and pricing before you go. Save venues to your Wish List for later.

Membership Tiers

  • Free - Browse events, view profiles (with some restrictions)
  • Standard - Full event access, Wish List, show interest
  • Premium - Everything Standard has + extended limits + priority features
  • Organiser - Submit and manage events
  • Venue - Manage a venue profile, host events, receive bookings

Privacy & Safety

  • Your activity is private. No public feeds. No comments.
  • Matching is silent - nobody knows you're interested unless it's mutual
  • All meetups are at real verified venues or public locations.
  • Report anything that feels wrong - we take safety seriously
