Refund and Cancellation Policy

Version: 1.0
What this policy covers
This policy explains:
- Your right to cancel a paid subscription within 14 days of starting it and get a refund
- How to cancel a subscription after the 14 days (you can — but no refund applies)
- How refunds work for tickets you bought to events on UK Socials
- How long refunds take to reach you
It applies to anyone who pays for a UK Socials membership — Standard, Premium, Organiser, or Venue.
If you are a consumer in the UK, this policy works alongside (not instead of) your statutory rights under UK consumer law. Anything in this policy that would reduce those rights does not apply.
Part A — Subscriptions to UK Socials
A1. Your 14-day right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, when you sign up for a paid UK Socials subscription you have 14 calendar days during which you can change your mind. The 14 days run from the day you take out the subscription.
By agreeing to the Terms of Service at checkout (the consent tickbox above the payment button) you also expressly request that we begin providing the paid features immediately, as required by CCR 2013 reg 36(1). This is the legal basis on which we can charge you for the days you actually use the service if you later cancel within the 14-day window.
If you cancel within 14 days:
– You get a refund equal to the unused portion of your first month, calculated to the day.
– Example: you took out Premium at £5/month on the 1st of the month, cancelled on the 8th — you get back £5 minus the cost of the 7 days you used (≈£3.83 refunded).
– We process the refund to the same payment method you used to pay, normally within 5 working days of cancellation. Stripe and your bank may take additional time to credit it back to you (usually 1–3 working days, occasionally up to 10).
You don’t have to give us a reason. You can cancel for any reason, or no reason.
A2. How to cancel within 14 days
The easiest way: go to your Account tab → Manage Subscription → Cancel Membership. That cancels the subscription and triggers the refund automatically.
You can also:
– Email info@uksocials.club asking to cancel
– Send us a written notice by post to: CMP Technologies Ltd, Registered office address: being procured (contact info@uksocials.club for postal correspondence)
– Use the Model Cancellation Form below
You don’t have to use any particular form of words — telling us clearly that you want to cancel is enough.
A3. Cancelling after 14 days
You can cancel your subscription at any time, even after the 14 days. Cancellation is always allowed and you never need to give a reason.
If you cancel after 14 days:
– No refund applies for the current billing period, but
– Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and
– It will not auto-renew
This means: if you cancel on day 25 of a monthly subscription, you keep access until day 30, then your account drops to the Free tier (or Standard if you were on Premium etc.).
To cancel after 14 days: same routes as A2 above.
A4. What happens to your data when you cancel
Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account. Your account stays open at the Free tier with your existing profile, photos, and messages. To delete the account entirely, see the Privacy Policy §7 for retention details and the Account → Delete Account flow.
A5. Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month until you cancel them.
- Reminders: we’ll send you a renewal reminder by email at least 3 days before each renewal, on a date when the renewal would otherwise charge silently. You can cancel any time before the renewal goes through.
- Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, we’ll try once more within 3 days. If both attempts fail your account drops to the Free tier and we’ll let you know in-platform.
- Price changes: see Terms of Service §10 — at least 30 days’ notice before any price change applies to you.
A6. When you cannot cancel
There is no scenario in which we will refuse to let you cancel your subscription. There are scenarios in which we will not refund:
– After day 14 of your initial signup, no refund applies — you keep the service to the end of the paid period
– We will not refund where you have abused the policy (e.g. signed up under multiple accounts to claim repeat 14-day refunds)
– We will not refund where your account was terminated for breach of our Terms or Community Guidelines (forfeiture is a reasonable response to material breach under the Consumer Rights Act 2015)
Part B — Event tickets (organiser-sold)
When you buy a ticket to an event listed on UK Socials, you are buying it from the organiser, not from us. UK Socials provides the technology and takes a 5% platform fee through Stripe Connect — but the contract for the ticket is between you and the organiser (Terms of Service §5).
That means:
– Refunds for event tickets are the organiser’s responsibility, not ours
– Each event listing should display the organiser’s refund policy. If it doesn’t, ask the organiser before buying
– If you can’t reach the organiser, contact us at info@uksocials.club and we’ll put you in touch
The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 generally do not give a 14-day cooling-off right for event tickets where the event is on a specific date (there is a “specific date or period” exemption — reg 28(1)(h)). But check the organiser’s stated terms.
If an event is cancelled by the organiser, the organiser must refund you in full under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If they don’t, contact us — we will work with the organiser and Stripe to get you refunded.
Part C — Free tier
The Free tier costs nothing, so there’s nothing to refund. You can stop using your free account at any time, or delete it entirely, with no charges.
Part D — How to claim a refund
| Claim | What to do |
|---|---|
| 14-day refund on subscription | Cancel via Account → Manage Subscription, OR email info@uksocials.club |
| Refund for event ticket | Contact the organiser via the event page; if no response after 7 days contact info@uksocials.club |
| Refund for cancelled event | The organiser must refund you. If they don’t, contact info@uksocials.club |
Refunds are made to the same payment method you used to pay. We don’t pay refunds in cash, by store credit, or to a different card.
We respond to refund requests within 3 working days of receiving them and process valid refunds within 5 working days. Your bank may take an additional 1–10 working days to credit your account.
Part E — Model Cancellation Form
You don’t have to use this form, but you can if you want a clear template.
